More stuff from the garage

  • Two and a half bento boxes. The half went in the trash, but I’m keeping the other two for work. When I get it.
  • One 6-cup muffin pan
  • One electric kettle
  • Two pastry tips

i need to do this—i have an attic that is terrifying to even look at.  frankly, i can’t even clean my house, it overwhelms me. well, i just dusted the piano.  one piece of furniture.  i feel like i should have a party right now.

You know, while I’m between jobs I’m doing a box a day, but once I get a job I’ll switch to a box a week (and believe me, there’s enough to keep me going for ages). Had I done this when I moved into this house, I would be done by now. But let us forget that part of the past.

Besides, I think I’m a little more ruthless about getting rid of stuff these days. You can never have too many books or too much music, but the rest? You don’t need so much of it.

And your piano thanks you.

I think you can have too much music, but NEVER too many books.  And we’re 6 years into this house, and I’ve BEGGED to do one box a week for year, but to no avail.  I’m trying to decide if I should do it quietly.  (Most of it isn’t mine.)

I wouldn’t mind his stuff so much if it were all boxed up nicely and he knew it was stuff he wanted to keep. And I got to park in the garage (something I’ve never in my adult life been able to do). But that’s not true.

So far I’ve managed to get rid of one box of stuff that was his, with his full permission. And I said that I need a file cabinet, and it sounds like he’s willing to empty out one of his for me. So, progress.

Of course, once the garage is finished, there’s his office, which is actually just another storage room. No sane person could ever use it as an office. There’s a certain amount of work I can do in that room. In fact, once I start making real space in the garage, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of that stuff migrate to the garage.

Oh, and because of his construction job he keeps accumulating excess building materials in the garage, and that’s definitely not working for me. We have a shed. He’s going to use it.
